Malay dowry...

I was reading my fren's blog abt Malay dowry and i find it funny...rather amusing...
This brings me to a point...Why are the price(i dun like using thisword), hmmmm value of dowry so high....as high as $10,000? Can u believe it? Why are ppl refering to it like a market price?Using words like Market price, standard value,...I mean, who in the world....in the malay community sets the standard?

I pity Malay guys...they have to save up quite alot for marriage....$10,000 plus wedding costs, plus apartment costs plus plus plus....."keching,keching!" all the money signs appear in front of everyone...

And if a mother says..."hey my daughter ca cook, sing well, knows how to massage and is smart, se studies in Harvard so dowry is set to be very high ok!"
So what if, the guy finds out after the marriage that she's not like dat?Can't cook, singslike a horse, bimbotic and hurts rather than massage?Will there be a refund?
Hmmm....Just my 1o cents worth of thought.....
